Truman State beats Upper Iowa 2-0 in women’s soccer

Truman State University beat Upper Iowa 2-0 in women's soccer Wednesday at Harms-Eischeid Stadium in Fayette, Iowa, scoring twice in the last two minutes of the first half.

Meghan Knust and Lizzy Peng, both of Truman State, scored off the bench 69 seconds apart in the Great Lakes Valley Conference match. Knust scored her first goal of the season at 43:50 on assists from Peng and Julia Behounek, of Truman State. Peng scored her third goal at 44:59 on an assist from Behounek for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Truman State outshot Upper Iowa 23-5 and put 12 shots on goal to four. Siman Loethen, of Truman State, played all 90 minutes in goal for the shutout and made four saves. Suzette Orta, of Upper Iowa, played all 90 minutes and made nine saves. Truman State had six corner kicks to Upper Iowa's three.

Truman State is 5-4-4 and 4-3-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Upper Iowa is 0-9-3 and 0-9-1.

The Truman State men also beat Upper Iowa 2-0 Wednesday.

Truman State hosts Missouri S&T at noon Oct. 14 at Bulldog Soccer Park in Kirksville.
