Maliq A. Straughter, of Columbia, pleaded not guilty Monday in Macon to first-degree tampering and other charges from Thursday's pursuit.
He appeared in custody without a lawyer before Judge Kristen Burks. The state appeared by a bond memorandum filed by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Cody Wells, according to the docket.
Burks arraigned Straughter and did not change the $50,000 cash-only bond because of allegations of fleeing from law enforcement, according to the docket.
The case is set for a bond review and counsel status at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in Macon.
Straughter is charged after a pursuit ended in the Macon R-1 student parking lot. The complaint charges first-degree tampering, a class D felony, and resisting a lawful stop by fleeing, a class E felony, plus four driving counts.
A criminal charge is an accusation. Straughter is presumed innocent.
