Melissa & Doug is recalling about 84,000 Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board toys sold exclusively at Target because a fire hose port can come loose and choke a child.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission posted the recall Thursday. The toys sold at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from July 2025 through August 2026 for about $30. The notice did not identify Macon County sales or incidents.
The firm has received 26 reports of the small port coming loose and one report of a minor cut.
The compact red plastic fire engine has spinning wheels, busy-board activities that activate lights and sounds, four black wheels, a white rotating ladder, and a black plastic connector that looks like a fire hose. It measures about 10.5 inches high, 14.31 inches wide, and 3.06 inches deep and weighs about 1.6 pounds. "Melissa & Doug" is embossed on the battery compartment cover with two date-code wheels.
Recalled units have one arrow pointing to 25 and the second arrow pointing to 4 or 5, or one arrow pointing to 26 and the second arrow pointing to 3. Packaging for recalled units bears date codes OET 25100, OET 25150, or OET 26064.
Consumers should stop using the toy immediately and register at melissaanddoug.com/recall for a free replacement board, a $30 check refund, or a $40 melissaanddoug.com store credit. Owners will be asked to remove the batteries, write "RECALL" and a unique registration code on the front of the toy in permanent marker, cut off the black hose, upload a photo of the destroyed product, and then throw it away in ordinary household trash.
