The Macon County R-1 School District Board of Education hired EGL to run its next superintendent search, with a finance addition, on a 5-1-1 vote at its Aug. 18 open meeting, according to approved minutes the district posted this week.
Lydia McClellan moved the hire. Bruce Weimer seconded. Greg Bruno, Donny Wyatt, McClellan, Millicent Dawdy, and Weimer voted for the motion. Nick Dille voted against. Board President Stacy Quinn abstained.
The board also named Tonya Washam interim Title IX coordinator on a 7-0 vote. McClellan moved that appointment, and Dawdy seconded. All seven members voted for it: Dille, Bruno, Wyatt, Quinn, McClellan, Dawdy, and Weimer.
Policy IKFB was approved as presented, 7-0, on a motion by Bruno and a second by McClellan. The minutes do not describe the policy beyond that code.
The board earlier voted 7-0 to approve the 2026-27 tax rate as presented, on a motion by Wyatt and a second by Weimer. That vote matches the action previously reported from the unapproved minutes. The approved minutes still do not print a cents-per-$100 figure.
Informational reports included a building and construction update from Todd Fuemmeler, plus reports from Quinn, Superintendent Bryan Thomsen, and building administrators. The minutes record no board action on those items.
Quinn called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. at the District Administration Building, 902 N. Missouri St., after a 6 p.m. tax-rate hearing. All seven members were present. The board approved the agenda and the consent agenda, each 7-0. Public comment was listed as N/A. A discussion of closed-session minutes produced no board action. The open session adjourned at 7:27 p.m. on a 7-0 vote.
