Heat Advisory for Macon County continues until Saturday

Macon County remains under a Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. Saturday, with heat index values expected to reach 107.

The National Weather Service sent the updated alert at 5:32 a.m. Thursday. The agency said the heat’s longevity and limited overnight relief prompted the multi-day advisory.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses, the Weather Service said.

The Weather Service advised residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. It also advised limiting strenuous activity to early morning or evening and wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
