Hallsville beat Macon 28-14 on Friday in the season opener after trailing 7-0 at halftime.
Despite two interceptions in the first half, Macon dropped to Hallsville’s second half offensive press.
Macon’s Parker Wood intercepted a Hallsville pass in the first quarter.
Macon’s Skyler Anderson returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, and Joey Robertson kicked the extra point. Hallsville reached first-and-goal before the half and did not score.
Hallsville’s Gabe Jenkins caught a 42-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, then ran 46 yards for six. Landon Cunningham threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Luke Pezley, making it 21-7, Hallsville.
Macon’s Paxton Jones scored Macon’s other touchdown, a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter after a long run to the Hallsville 3. Robertson filed the tip.
Hallsville’s Cunningham scored on a 1-yard run after that. Liam Clossick kicked Hallsville’s four extra points.
Macon is 0-1. The Tigers also lost here last September, 19-14, and at home in 2024, 46-15.
