Both are charged with felony stealing in St. Joseph and are held in Macon County awaiting extradition to Buchanan County, according to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. The office has not released their names.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the sheriff’s office were notified about 10:30 a.m. of a theft at the St. Jo Frontier Casino. Dispatchers reported the vehicle was headed east on Highway 36.

About 10:54 a.m., Deputies Ligon and Jefferson found the vehicle eastbound on Highway 36 west of U.S. 63. With help from troopers, they made a felony stop and took the male driver and a female passenger into custody, the office said.

Ligon obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. The search turned up more than $151,000, which was held at a local bank for pickup by troopers from St. Joseph, according to the office.

The Macon Police Department also assisted.
