Utilities. The Macon Board of Public Works meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council Chambers, 106 W. Bourke St. The posted agenda, amended Sunday, includes a customer services request, August financials, a multipurpose fund grant application, a Burns & McDonnell flow study, and approval to begin updated contract negotiations with Macon Public Water Supply District No. 1. City bids. Sealed bids for the city's 1998 fire engine remain open through 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28. Bids must be marked "FD Property Bid. Attention: Anastasia Rucker" and delivered to City Hall. The Chronicle previously reported the sale posting.
County. The Macon County Commission next sits under its standing schedule Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the county website. June through September commission minutes were still not posted as of Tuesday morning; the latest monthly PDF on the agendas page remains May 2026.
City. Minutes from the Sept. 8 regular City Council meeting are still not posted. The meeting page lists the agenda only. The council's next regular meeting is the second Tuesday in October.
City jobs. Street Department laborer, administrative secretary, city administrator, and police openings remain listed as open until filled. The Chronicle previously reported the street laborer posting.
Beach. Long Branch State Park's public swim beach remains closed for the season, according to the Missouri DNR beach dataset (sample dated Aug. 31).

Midweek and weekend worship times posted by local congregations include Wednesday 5 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart in Bevier; Crossroads Christian Church in Macon at 8, 9:30, and 11 a.m. Sundays; Macon United Methodist Church at 8:30 a.m. in the sanctuary, 10 a.m. discipleship groups, and 11 a.m. in the Worship Center; and First Baptist Church in Atlanta at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sundays.
Roads. MoDOT Northeast still lists expect-delays bridge maintenance on U.S. 63 at the U.S. 36 interchange in Macon County. The Chronicle previously reported the work.
