The Macon County R-I School District board will hold a special work session at 7 p.m. Wednesday with a budget discussion as its only business item.
The session is in the Macon R-1 Board Room at 902 N. Missouri St., according to the agenda posted on the district's website. The agenda lists the budget discussion as an action item. It does not describe what the discussion will cover.
The agenda also includes time for public comment and a consent agenda with one item, approval of the minutes from the board's Sept. 29 special work session.
At the end of the work session, the board is scheduled to vote on going into closed session, according to a separate agenda. Missouri's Sunshine Law allows a public body to close a meeting to discuss certain matters. The closed agenda cites two of them: hiring, firing, disciplining, or promoting personnel, under Section 610.021(3), and personnel records, evaluations, and job applications, under Section 610.021(13).
The closed session agenda also lists approval of the board's Sept. 16 closed session minutes.
At its Sept. 29 special session, the board voted 6-0 to approve a tax anticipation note, a short-term loan against local property taxes, to borrow $3.3 million, according to the meeting's unapproved minutes and a board letter posted on the district's website.
