A La Plata man is charged with felony third-degree domestic assault after a woman told a Macon County sheriff's deputy he grabbed her by the neck and head-butted her, according to Macon County court records.
Timothy J. Parrish was charged Oct. 12 in Macon County Circuit Court with one count of domestic assault in the third degree, a class E felony.
He is held on a $40,000 cash-only bond and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Deputy James Ligon went to a La Plata-area home for a well-being check on the afternoon of Oct. 11, where a woman in a relationship with Parrish said he grabbed her by the neck and head-butted her, according to Ligon's probable cause statement. Ligon wrote that she had bruises on both arms, her back and the right side of her neck, and scratches on her left forearm and neck. Parrish denied anything happened, the statement says.
The woman also said Parrish assaulted her Oct. 9 and she did not report it. She appeared afraid of him and said she did not want to press charges because he would hurt her when he got out, Ligon wrote.
According to the statement, Parrish is out on bond in an Adair County domestic case involving the same woman, with orders not to contact her, and has prior fourth-degree domestic assault convictions in Adair County in 2024 and Macon County in 2026.
A class E felony in Missouri carries up to four years in prison.
Charges are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
