The Macon Chronicle is an independent local newspaper serving Macon, Missouri and Macon County. We are a Chariton Media publication; we focus on the stories that matter where you live.

Our publishing team brings more than 26 years cumulative experience ranging from the neighborhood paper route to broadcast media to daily reporting and national political coverage. Chariton Media Publishing acquired Masthead Media and the heritage of a weekly community paper that grew to 6,000 audited circulation.

Our Coverage

We publish daily local news drawn from official public records and community sources. Regular beats include:

• Crashes and arrests, sourced from MSHP Troop B and local law enforcement
• Road conditions and closures from MoDOT
• Macon R-I and area Tigers sports scores, schedules, and game coverage
• Macon County and City of Macon government, including commission and council meetings and public notices
